George Piro, former Assistant Director of International Operations of the FBI and Special Agent in Charge of the FBI’s Miami Office, Joins V2 Global

Foreign Corrupt Practices Act

Miami, FL, October 29, 2020

It has recently come to light that Goldman Sachs has agreed to pay a settlement of $2.9 billion to the U.S. Department of Justice (“DOJ”) for violations of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (“FCPA) in connection with a $1.6 billion bribery scheme in Malaysia. The DOJ noted that the bribery scheme was serious and pervasive and involved high-level employees who ignored significant red flags. This settlement should serve as a reminder for companies to review their FCPA policies and procedures. Former Senior FBI Agent, Mark Varri, Joins V2 Global

Miami, FL, November 15, 2019

V2 Global announced today that former senior FBI member, Marc Varri, has joined the firm as its Director of European Operations.

Marc is a highly accomplished security and intelligence professional with more than 25 years of investigative experience with the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the United States Intelligence Community. During his FBI career, he served almost ten years as the Legal Attaché at the U.S. Embassy in Madrid acting as the senior FBI and Department of Justice official responsible for all aspects of governmental policy and law enforcement relations for Spain, Portugal, Gibraltar and Andorra.

In the last six months, we have been involved in a substantial number of corporate transaction related matters, including transactional support for several M&A’s and strategic advice in a proxy contest involving a hostile takeover of a public company. In addition to the strategic advice, all these matters were supported with investigative fact finding and due diligence services.
